Placing Animal Welfare at the Centre of the European Elections

The “Vote for Animals” campaign by Eurogroup for Animals, seeks to prioritize animal welfare in the upcoming European elections. Candidates for the European Parliament are encouraged to sign a pledge committing to improve animal welfare. The pledge includes ten requests, such as advocating for animal-free science, ending animal suffering during transport, and banning fur farming. The campaign aims to inform citizens about the significance of the election for animal welfare, encourage voting, and help identify candidates aligned with these values. The Doctors Against Animal Experiments association supports the campaign, emphasizing the importance of the 2024 European elections in advancing animal welfare, particularly in phasing out animal testing. The initiative builds on previous citizen demands and parliamentary efforts focused on critical animal welfare issues.
