AI Meets Real Patients
Journal: Nature Biotechnology
This addresses in depth the reliability of AI algorithms when handling complex real-world medical data, and the issues requiring continuous updates and validation in clinical workflows.
Droplet Hi-C Enables Scalable Single-Cell Chromatin Structure Profiling in Heterogeneous Tissues
Journal: Nature Biotechnology
Author: Lei Chang, Yang Xie.
Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, University of California, San Diego, La Jolla, CA, USA
Introducing a new technology ‘Droplet Hi-C’, which enables rapid and scalable profiling of chromatin structure at the cellular level. This method is faster and more cost-effective than previous approaches, making it particularly valuable for studying complex diseases such as cancer and neurological disorders.
Recovery of Collapsed Plant-Pollinator Networks Through Single Species
Journal: Plos Biology
A study on the collapse and recovery of mutualistic ecological networks due to environmental changes reveals that even small environmental changes can deteriorate networks, and due to the hysteresis phenomenon, recovery may be difficult even after restoring original environmental conditions.
Nanoparticle-Based Therapy: New Treatment Possibilities for Prostate Cancer Patients
Journal: Journal of Urology
Author: Steven E. Canfield
This study, conducted on 44 patients with localized prostate cancer, utilized ‘gold nanoshells’ – microscopic particles – combined with MRI and ultrasound fusion technology. Using near-infrared laser treatment to heat the nanoshells, the technique selectively eliminated cancer cells, with 73% of patients showing cancer clearance after 12 months.
